I seem to go through beauty products faster than anyone else
I know. I swear I don’t use more than the necessary amount... Anyway January
has been a good month as I am throwing/ finishing/ giving away a load of stuff
without having bought anything to replace it. Everything is looking a lot
tidier (and the bank balance is a little happier too).
First up my tube of Rapidlash died right at the very start
of the month. Since I stopped using it my lashes have started looking a little
worse for wear but although I love the product and would love another tube it’s
not a priority right now.
Rimmel Summer Angel lipstick. Look at that sad looking
beaten up tube! Aw... It is finally dead. I used this pretty much like a
shimmery lip balm. I have similar things though so don’t need to repurchase. I
suppose if I do decide to turn this no buy into a project ten pan then at least
it’s 1 down!
The Dermalogica Age Smart lip treatment was lovely but so
overpriced. I won’t be buying the full size.
I cheated and poured out what was left of my MAC Fix +. I’d
had it too long and find it to be utterly useless. At least it’s another empty
for Back to MAC!
Cheapy Asda nail polish remover. Cost pennies, worked fine. Nothing
to write home about.
Botanics Noureshing Face Cleanser. My first foray into the
world of cream cleansers. It was fine but didn’t remove every trace of makeup.
I’m trying other things.
Dove Summer Glow body lotion. It’s a nice gradual tanner and
has helped perk up my pasty skin on many a winter evening out. I have another
bottle to use up then I think I will try something else.
Lancôme Eau Micellaire Douce (express cleansing water)
sample. I’m not a huge fan of this and I have another sample to use up of it.
Meh.
Clinique Take the Day Off eye makeup remover sample. Works
well but no better than my beloved Botanics eye makeup remover which is far
cheaper.
Simple Kind To Eyes Soothing Eye Balm. It’s a cheap,
perfectly functional eye cream that never bothered my sensitive skin. This was
actually my second tube! I’m using something a little richer on my wintery skin
just now though.
Clinique 7 Day Scrub sample. I prefer the No7 exfoliator as
it has finer but more densely packed granules.
And finally a whole host is little hand cream/ body lotion
minis (that I used as hand cream) from either gift with purchases or hotel
bathrooms. My hands have been horrendous recently and there is nothing I loathe
more than dry skin on my hands. It makes me gag.
How has January gone for you? Are you having a good clear
out or have you been hitting the sales and restocking? x

Well done!! I have a few things that I've almost used up so hopefully Feb will see me finish up a whole bunch of samples etc. I'm going on a holiday so will be taking lots along!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Fingers crossed you get some stuff used up. Best thing about using things up on holiday is you don't have to bother taking it back with you ;-) x
DeleteYou've made good progress (achievements?) in January! I have a big bag of empties waiting to be pictured/written too! Cold weather does make me lazier in make up and use up more moisturisers~ :)
ReplyDeleteI tend to be lazier with my makeup in summer when I know it's just going to melt off in a few hours so why bother lol x
DeleteYou've done well! I am really trying to use stuff up and not buy anything new for now :) I noticed lots of people trying to save some monnies now. I guess 2012 is a year of saving :)

I think a lot of people are feeling the pinch at the minute. Personally I'm saving for a few things so I'm making myself feel better about not buying new stuff by trying to get some satisfaction out of using up what I have. Hope that makes sense! x
Deletegosh you've done well this month! i feel like ive finished so many products as well, thank god! my collection is becoming insane paha!
ReplyDeleteI know the feeling, my collection is a little overwhelming at the moment! Will you be doing an empties post? x
Deletewow, good for you! I finished a bunch of beauty stuff!
ReplyDeleteThanks Hollie :-) Still plenty of stuff to get through though! x
DeleteI'm trying to Project 10 pan at the moment but not getting a whole lot of use out of my chosen products. Probably why I need rid of them to be honest...
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your P10P! I think sometimes we just need to accept that we hate a product and either give it away or throw it. I'm terrible for refusing to see somthing go to waste though and will use it even if I hate it x
DeleteGreat job, Claire! Reading these is always hugely inspiring and motivating. I'm nearing the end of an old body butter and almost weeping for joy. :`)```
ReplyDeleteHaha well I always find your blog very inspiring Liz! I love the 'reductionista' ethos! There is a real satisfaction to be had from seeing old products finally hitting the recycling bin x
DeleteJanuary has definitely been a month of stocking up for me due to the Body Shop's sale - I don't need shower gel or body moisturiser for the rest of the year!!
ReplyDeleteI'm the opposite in that I find I take ages to use up a product, Foundation lasts 6+ months, used every day, and cleanser and shower gel both last a few months.
I cant remember my password so had to comment as anonymous - sorry!! Well done on all those empties...I've managed to finish up my Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish, a foundation, eye cream and a couple of conditioners I never liked and have been sitting around for a couple of months YAY!!! Sam.
ReplyDeleteWow! Good work! I've finished up quite a few things so far this month as well; it's such a good feeling. I probably would have been adding to my collection if I wasn't so broke but since I am I guess it's working in my favor. I love these posts so keep it up! :)

Oddly enough, I was just sorting through my collection tonight. I pulled some things to put on my swap list, some things to finish up, and some things to trash. Unfortunately, I got sucked in by all of the new stuff and sales at CVS, so I added a lot of things to my collection this month too.
