Une Intuitive Touch BB-Cream Foundation

This is the final review in my UK High Street BB Cream series (snappy name huh?) so I will be posting a Youtube video in a couple of days summarising my thoughts on the 6 ‘BB Creams’ I have tried.

 If you have read any of my previous BB Cream reviews you will know my criteria for a product to actually be counted as a BB cream. It has to provide coverage, have some sort of skin care benefit and it has to protect the skin (i.e. have SPF). What we have here is a cream compact foundation. The lack of SPF means that to me this is not really a BB Cream. It states on the packaging that it is moisturising, I think it is somewhat but do so much so that I can't wear it on my combination skin. Whilst I actually really like the product I do think this is an example of band wagon marketing.

Aside from the BB Wannabe status my other pet peeve with this product is the price. This costs £14.49 from either Boots or Superdrug (I used some of my Superdrug points to pay for this so I paid a little less). That makes it the most expensive of all the BB Creams I have tried thus far. Not only is it pricey to begin with but you don’t actually get a lot of product. You only get 6g! If I were using this day in day out I don’t think it would last me long at all.

I’ve been umming and aahing over the packaging for weeks and I still don’t quite know how I feel about it. On the one hand the big mirror is handy (the label on the front peels off leaving a huge mirror), it feels well made and though the brush would be useless for a full application for on the go touch ups it’s ideal. It does say on the back of the compact that it is a refillable case although I personally haven’t seen any refills available (please let me know if you have!). And yet when I see that tiny little 6g pan I can’t help but think that the packaging is excessively big. It makes you think you’re buying more product than you actually get. I would be worried about the mirror sliding up in my hand bag and making a mess.

Enough grumbling, as I have said I do like the product itself. This comes in 6 shades, none of which are particularly dark which as always I think is unacceptable. I have the lightest shade 101 which looks very dark in the pan. On the skin it is actually much lighter and quite yellow toned. This is an excellent match for my skin if not a touch too yellow. I won’t be able to wear it through the summer but next winter I think I will be reaching for it often.

I find that this applies best with my synthetic Sigma F82 which I spritz with my Body Shop Vitamin C spray to dampen it. It works equally well with a slightly damp sponge though. It is quite creamy but it does set on the skin to a soft semi matte finish. The coverage is light. It gives quite a soft focus finish and doesn’t emphasise any large pores or blemishes, it doesn’t even look cakey on my dry patches either.

Now this isn’t particularly long lasting on me but it does exactly what I want this kind of coverage to do – it fades gracefully. It doesn’t go cakey or patchy throughout the day at all no matter how much powder I pile on top of it.

I’m in two minds about this. The price, packaging and ‘BB’ claim all annoy me. Yet I really enjoy reaching for this. I typically haven’t gotten on with compact foundations in the past but this is the best one for my skin that I have tried. Do I love it enough to pay for it again? Maybe. I’m not sure!
